If you like Italian or Vietnamese, Kosher or Halal, Chiang Mai has it all. This city has been renowned for it's great selection of restaurants from all over the world.
Traditional Thai food is definitely something you have to try, and it's very easy to find. One particular local dish to Northern Thailand is Khao Soi, and it is extremely delicious. If you like, you can ask them not to make it spicy.

Italian Food, I recommend one of Stefano's restaurants. Stefano is one of the most successful Italians in Chiang Mai for his restaurants and not for no reason! Besides incredible food for reasonable prices, the atmosphere is what really keeps people coming back. Every guest at Stefano's is truly honored.
